I was wondering… Why are there so many asian-american bloggers? Is it just that I come across their sites as I’m looking for stuff that interests me? Are there so many that I can’t help but trip over their blogs as I traipse about the interwebs?
Also, regarding blogging… I know nobody really reads my blog. This is me thinking “out loud” because my husband would probably roll his eyes at my ruminations were I to try and have a conversation with him.
So yeah, I really do think lots of inane stuff. Now I just get to blog about it.
Ah, the Election season is in full swing; the elections will be held in just 2 short weeks. With that, I’d like to state to all those who support their candidates the following:
If you choose to publicly declare your support with a bumper sticker, stick the damn thing on your car! Don’t wimp out by simply taping the sticker to the inside of your rear window. I don’t care who you support, just be commited to that decision.
We went to see my favorite band, The Wedding Present, mid-month. I’m still obsessively listening to my CD and singing to myself in my head. I adore David Gedge. Its the lyrics, obviously, the almost pathetic pull between being faithful and infidelity, of unrequited love. I do hate that I can’t say a word to an artist or someone I otherwise admire, when he’s standing right in front of me.
This used to bring me endless hours of enjoyment with my friends. Watching it today, it’s not quite as funny. Maybe what’s needed is the company to accompany. Anyway, it’s Lois Bromfield’s Sorority Girls From Hell:
Steve and I enjoy many activities in common. Concerts, Galaxy Games, even the occasional jaunt to the mall. One thing that’s been missing that I’ve always wished for is that we could find a physical activity that we both enjoy. He didn’t want to play tennis with me, we never got good at golf, and he doesn’t enjoy walking. Last weekend he decided to buy us bicycles. ”Ooh!”, I thought, “This will be fun! Rides along the beach, enjoying the waves and ocean breeze with my sweetie!” I was only partly right about the fun. He’s in this to improve our fitness. So, instead of a leisurely ride with stops along the way it’s a punishing hour of constant pedaling (yeah, I know I’m a wimp). On the last ride, I did need to stop along the way and have had a leisurely sit on a bench while he continued to bike up to Malibu and back to where I was resting. Since when did a middle-aged, non-exercising smoker have more endurance than me? Here’s the view from the bench.
I’ve got to learn to push myself a little further than my comfort zone. There are a couple of very small hills on the bike path. Most people probably don’t consider them to even be hills. I need to tell myself to keep going when I see it up ahead, rather than wanting to take a break. I wanted to be able to exercise with my husband, and now that we’re doing it, I wimp out. Tomorrow we ride again. Wish me luck and remind me that there aren’t any real hills on the bike path.
I suppose I’m living a pretty good life if the one thing that’s causing me to literally pull out my hair is that my team, the LA Galaxy, is on an eight game losing streak. On top of that, they’ve fired their GM, Alexi Lalas, and the head coach, Ruud Gullit, has resigned. It’s chaos over there, methinks.
On the up-side, current assistant coach Cobi Jones was made interim head coach. If you don’t follow US Men’s Soccer, or the LA Galaxy, Cobi is a legend. He looks good as head coach, doesn’t he?
Anyway, Thursday’s match against arch-rival Chivas USA may have been his first and last game as head coach. I wish they would’ve given him more time to prove himself. The match ended with a 2-2 draw.
Until we started following the Galaxy, I’ve never had a team that I consider to be “my team”. Now that I do, I understand how people can feel utter heartbreak at the hands of a sports team. If I’ve ever ridiculed you for your fanatical love of a team, I apologize.
Wow. Did you see that? As a fan of pageantry, and a participant of the 1984 Opening/Closing Ceremonies, I have to say that the Chinese outdid themselves. 15,000 performers?! It was seriously beautiful.
Six weeks ago, I was in a car accident. The accident wasn’t my fault, and I felt bad for the kid who caused it. I’m now getting pretty damned frustrated with the whole insurance, rental, repair crap. Let’s just say that my car should’ve been finished more than a week ago. I miss her…
